Experiencing difficulties with his regular bike, an SOS for
a spare went out this week to secure Clifford’s entry. Luckily Barry Sheehan
came on board with his Game On Camps Kawasaki ZX6r to save the day and Clifford
Racing were back on track.
Having spent no time on the bike, FP1 was a learning curve
but one that went well where Aaron went 5th fastest. Just before
FP2, many changes were made to pick up the pace and Aaron went even quicker
but, the grid had done the same and Aaron languished in 12th after
the second 25 minute session. More changes before qualifying improved the
handling no end and went the qualifying chequered flag went out, Aaron had pushed
well up the field and was placed fifth, just off the front row.
Aaron said afterwards “Coming into this weekend, I wasn’t
looking for any particular result, just out on borrowed machinery to try to get
some valuable championship points. All started off well in FP1 where I ended up
5th while trying to get used to the bike. FP2 I went quicker again
but, I ended up 12th. After making a lot of setup changes for
qualifying, I qualified 5th and went 2 seconds quicker than FP2.
Looking forward to the race tomorrow at 12.35 where the plan is to get my head
down and try to stay with the leaders! A massive thanks to Barry Sheehan for
lending me his Game On Camps Kawasaki ZX6r as I had a problem with my own bike
and to all my sponsors for their continued help and support!”
