Appleyard Macadam Racing have
announced that National Superstock 1000 and 600 champion Keith Farmer will
replace Luke Jones for the opening three rounds of the Dickies British
Supersport Championship as he recovers from injuries sustained in testing.
Farmer’s first appearance on
the Yamaha R6 will be at this week’s official test at Donington Park on
Wednesday as Jones recovers from a hand injury, which is expected to sideline
the former British 125GP champion until June.
“While we are all hugely disappointed
for Luke, in this situation we had to think of our sponsors and the team as a
whole. Although a very difficult decision, we believe this is the best solution
to the situation we have been dealt with and one which Luke supports,” said
team boss Robin Appleyard.
“We are extremely lucky to have
been able to secure Keith, who clearly deserves to be in the paddock with a
competitive machine. There is no questioning his talent and we feel sure he can
do an excellent job for us. We hope this also provides Keith with opportunities
within the paddock once Luke returns to action.”
