Nico Mawhinney to Scott Racing Aprillia for 2017 Thundersport GB

The Scott Racing Motorcycles team is moving into its third full season of racing & this year we have combined our efforts with Team Polaris  to make an assault on the  Thundersport GP1 class with Nico Mawhinney on a Superstock Aprilia RSV4 & the Aprilia RRV450GP class with Alex Taylor. Nico is a rider I have been watching for a few years & unfortunately his career has not progressed as his potential would dictate, due to various reasons all too common in racing,  after his horrendous accident in practice for the North West 200 his 2016 season was over before it started. I seen a determination in him as an individual when he made a return to the saddle at the end of the season even though he was not near 100% fit & again showed his potential had not been reduced. He has been through a tough training program over the winter & I am confident that when we both get to grips with the Superstock Aprilia RSV4 we can pull together a solid season & show Nico's true potential. I am also glad to have another season with Alex Taylor on the Aprilia RRV450GP to continue what we started last season. Alex exceeded all predictions the team had for him last season & we need to build on this foundation for 2017. Everything has been a bit last minute as we only decided to go racing again this year in the run up to Christmas, as I was going to sit out the 2017 season for personal reasons, but we came up with a plan which suited all concerned & as usual we will give it 100% commitment.

Nico Mawhinney:
I am absolutely over the moon to be turning a friendship with Trevor Scott into a racing attack on the Thundersport GP1 championship. He's someone that has always believed in me and to have signed to ride for someone who has a perfectionist approach in all that he does has me even more excited. Everything is always well turned out and it's given me that kick up the back side for me to get the motivation for my racing again that was slowly fading. I am looking forward to 2017 with everyone at the Scott racing squad and it was nice to enjoy a Christmas break knowing I was able to forget about 2016 and concentrate on our new objective on a completely new machine to us all. The bike has so much potential and I know that Team Polaris Racing and Scott racing motorcycles have the recipe for winning races!

Alex Taylor:
I am delighted to announce that I will be racing with Trevor Scott & the rest of the team at Scott Racing Motorcycles for a second season. In my first full season with the team they helped me improve my racing skills so much that I secured two podiums & numerous top 6 finishes throughout the season. For this year I have been given a second bike to use as a wet bike/ test bike & I am really looking forward to this season to build on what we have already achieved together.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our sponsors, Scott & Stinson Eng Ltd, Rectory Forge, Express Carparts, Team Polaris,  Aprilia UK, Dunlop Tyres, IN Competition, Nutt Travel, Moto Direct, RST leathers, Arai Helmets, PipeWerx Exhaust systems, Maxton Suspension, Motul Oils, Daytona Boots, Paintbox Motorcycle Paints, Taylored workwear, DMD air art Helmet Painting..............without you all this season would not have been possible
