PODIUM JOY FOR SCOTT SWANN AT KNOCKHILL

THREE PODIUMS FOR SWANN AT

KNOCKHILL BSB
Scott Swann had an amazing weekend at Knockhill in Scotland, taking his debut British championship podium in the Santander Consumer Finance KTM British Junior Cup.

If that wasn't enough, the 13-year-old Carrickfergus College student went on to take two further podiums and a fourth place, moving him up to fourth place in the series standings after 11 races.

Recounting the weekend in his own words, he said:

I'm back from my best ever Santander Consumer Finance KTM British Junior Cup race weekend. I couldn’t beleive it, three podiums: a second place, two third places and a fourth. I also got a pole position, a fastest lap of the weekend and up to fourth in the Championship. I loved the track right from the first few laps of practice and qualified in 4th place.

This weekend we had 4 races. The first race everything felt perfect and I got a good start and was dicing with Aaron Wright, I got past him on the brakes into the hairpin on about lap 4 and led for a while but he came back past and pulled a few seconds gap. At that point I seen my pit board and the gap to third and pushed to keep 2nd to the line and my first ever British Championship podium. In the second race I had a few slides and dropped back to 5th but tried really hard and pushed up to 3rd and another podium. In race 3 I had a good battle through the race with Taylor Fox Morten and was back to forth and 2 seconds back, I really wanted to get on the podium again and pushed really hard on the last and caught him and passed into the hairpin, but on the drag to the line his bike was a wee bit quicker and he passed me again just before the finish line. I was so disappointed to just miss the podium with 4th place, but that last lap got me the fastest lap of the weekend and pole position for the last TV race.

The last race was in very very wet tricky conditions, after the first few laps I was in second place and following Aaron Wright when he fell just infront of me, then just after that Lewis Patterson passed me near the same corner. I was ok in 2nd for a while but then had a few big slides and got passed by Caleb Smith, I could see my pit board said 3rd plus 15 seconds, I really wanted to get on the podium again and not fall so I settled for 3rd and more points just behind Caleb. With the good results, all the Island Magee Clan over and all the Irish people over that were supporting me, I think I’d like to call Knockhill my Home track.

Thank you to Big Dave, Paul, Fergie, Big Scott and dad for getting the bike and me ready, Katherine Sherry on the grid and to Big Richard, Steve, Alan, and KTM for their help and support
