Warm but potential showery conditions
prevailed during qualifying. All went well during the 15 minute practice
sessions with racing commencing at 11.45.
Only 5 F1 bikes filled the start grid of
the Sidecars race 1 which was controlled from flag to flag by Dylan Lynch on
the LCR Suzuki with Peter O’Neill in 2nd following him closely. All
Derek Lynch could do was patiently wait in 3rd as he completed a
lonely 8 laps. The result was reversed later on after Dylan was penalized for a
jump start promoting Peter O’Neill to the top step.
The Junior Cup and Young Guns race was a
lively affair as the 125’s and 250\300cc 4 stroke bikes provided tighter
competition.
The start of the first Pre-Injection races
was delayed due to a downpour on a bone dry track resulting in riders returning
to the paddock for a tyre change. The track dried out immediately.
Turned into an interesting race as James
McKenna and Daniel O’Connell battled for 1st and 2nd.
Just behind them James Cottrell and Shane Graham did the same for 3rd
and 4th.
Tricky conditions for the LWSS and Moto 3
race ensued also.
Technical red flag halted the Supersport
Pro and Cup race due to rain.
Supertwins and Production twins provided
more entertainment and Dave Butler came out on top, while Alan Rigney won the
Production race.
Following the Pre-Injection race, all machines
were directed into Parc Ferme where they were technically inspected by the
Technical Steward and MCUI Scrutineers. Results of which are pending.
Jordan McCord took the spoils in the second
Junior Cup race as Rhys Irwin again collected first in the Young Guns race
despite a penalty for a jump start.
The Supersport race was reran as a new
race, meaning anyone who wasn’t competing at the time of the red flag wasn’t
eligible to participate, which caused some confusion. Jason Lynn made good time
here and won the Pro race as Dean O’Grady took the Cup win. Aaron Clifford
impressed again in the Pro race as he collected 4th position.
A red flag ended the Pre-Injection race
after 5 laps, leaving James McKenna the winner again.
LWSS race 2 was unlucky for David Ging who
had a DNF after 6 laps with a mechanical.
Supersport 2 had everything. Nikki Coates
stormed away from the start only to make an error leaving him in 4th.
Aaron Clifford capitalized to take 2nd from Jason Lynn and would
have made it to the podium but for a sneaky highside in turn 4. Jason took the
win as Nikki battled back to 2nd and Richie Ryan finished the podium
as the rain began to threaten.
Saving the best to last, or second last
even, was the case for Supertwins Race 2 as Dave Butler and Joseph O’Loughlin
took the gloves off as they diced for 1st and 2nd place.
Dave ended up with the bloodied nose as Joey took the win, but in all fairness,
both were winners.
