The 2016 Motorcycle Short Circuit Irish Champion season got under way on Good Friday 25th March at Bishopscourt Racing circuit.
The two day Easter Superbike Festival Races, incorporating the 40th Enkalon Trophy Race scheduled off after lunch on Easter Saturday,
Unfortunately racing had to be cancelled due to severe 50-60mph gusts of wind making the circuit too dangerous for motorcycle racing.
Motor Cycle Road Racing Club of Ireland and Enkalon Club were disappointed but had no choice other than to abandon the event.
We are sorry for everyone who put so much effort into making the event happen, competitors, officials, marshals, first aid, press, photographers,
Medics, circuit management and the spectators who all turned up on the Saturday.
To accommodate the Enkalon Club and the unbroken 40 year history of the Enkalon Trophy Race we quickly planned to run the race at our
event in September The David Wood Memorial Trophy Races.
We have now decided that with our commitments to different sponsors for the two different events that the 40th ENKALON TROPHY in
association with Cornmarket Insurance Services will now be held next Easter Saturday on 15th April 2017.
Our attention and commitment is now on The David Wood Memorial Trophy Races and its sponsors, on the 17th September at Bishopscourt
Racing Circuit, Ballyhoran, Downpatrick, Co Down.
We are excited for the event with more new sponsors coming on board this year, more details will be released over the coming weeks.
